I got them to keep my niece and nephew entertained on a camping trip and they were a lot of fun. They were dropped and treated quite poorly, yet held up fine, so I would say they're pretty durable. The built-in belt clips were definitely handy. You also get a very protective hard carrying case with shoulder strap, a shoulder rest that can be adjusted, decent bow with rosin, handy tuner, and extra backup strings. The violin is made of spruce and maple with a fingerboard of ebony so it's actually quite nice looking. It took her teacher only half an hour to set up the violin, tune it, and apply the rosin to the bow.
